Happiness is something that we all strive for, but sometimes it can seem elusive. We search for happiness in our careers, relationships, possessions, and experiences. I have heard countless times from my clients that if they won the lottery, their life would change for the better. They feel that money is their source of happiness. But when we dig a little deeper and peel back the layers, we discover that it's not wealth, people are really striving for but rather happiness. They are just looking for external circumstances that they believe will give them the happiness they want. 

However, true happiness comes from within. It's about cultivating a positive mindset and making intentional choices to lead a more fulfilling life.

 The good news is that happiness is something that can be learned and practiced. Today, we will explore 10 keys to happiness that you can work on each week to help you live a happier life.

1. Know that you can weather your moods:

Our moods are ever-changing, and sometimes we feel down, anxious, or stressed. However, we should remember that our moods do not define us. When we recognize that our moods are temporary and that they will pass, we can learn to appreciate the lows as much as the highs. To cultivate a positive mindset, keep a gratitude journal and focus on the good things in your life.

2. Choose balance without judgment:

Balance is not about dividing your time equally between different aspects of your life. It's about finding the right balance that works for you without judgment. It's important to be present and fully engaged in each moment of your life, whether you are at work, home, or with loved ones.

3. Practice the discipline of denial:

Learning to say no to things that do not serve you is a valuable skill that will help you maintain your happiness in the long run. Denying quick fixes that may provide temporary pleasure but may have negative consequences later is a way to honour yourself and your long-term happiness.

4. Appreciate variety and anticipation:

Resolving conflicts can bring a sense of relief and help us move forward in a positive direction. Strive to bridge the gap between your head and your heart and heal yourself so that external circumstances, events, and situations don’t push your buttons.

10. Define yourself and express your gift:

Finding your unique gifts and expressing them can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment. It's important to set out to share your talents and gifts with others to create a positive impact in the world. Sharing openly and generously will help you feel a sense of contribution and bring you joy knowing that your gifts make a difference.
